Drunken Irishman has taken up the humongous task of writing the history of Western RPGs, trying to paint a picture of the evolution of the genre, using only a handful of games, which he describes in some detail to see what game introduced what to the genre. You will get to know the founding games that defined the elements we now take for granted, who borrowed a lot and how different titles can be compared in terms of design.

The article has been split up in large sections, covering everything from the early eighties to today's games.

Taylor Wyndham 6'4" 210 lb end -- He will get a look at defensive end, although he is also capable of playing linebacker. He was rated the #47 strong-side linebacker prospect by Scout.

As is true with any freshman lineman, all of the above players could be redshirted.
Final Analysis
The above mentioned group of players have the weight of high expectations on their shoulders entering the '08 football season. Everyone from the head coach to the players are tellinganyone who will listen that UK's defense will be much improved, continuing the journeytoward respectability. Fulfilling thoseprognostications with results onthe field holds the key to UK's successthis season.
Everything is lined up for a successful season. UK has experience, they have talent, they have All-SEC caliber players, and they have every motivation in the world. Kentucky's defense has been the scourge of every Blue lovin' football fanatic since Jerry Claiborne called it quits nearly 20 years ago. This is the year that changes ...but if it's not,put your favorite psychiatrist on speed-dial.
UPDATE: Sophomore wide receiver Kyrus Lanxter is scheduled to have the cast removed from his broken hand this Friday. If everything goes well, as expected, his return will help offset the loss of themono-ridden Aaron Boyd, who is out for at least six weeks.
Thanks for reading, and Go 'Cats.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline are headed to court next month for a custody trial, but according to People's legal experts, a settlement is more likely. With less than a month until the trial date, that means their lawyers must be scrambling and working hard towards finding an agreeable solution.
The couple are due back in court today (Friday) for a routine custody hearing. Currently Britney has monitored visitation twice a week with her two boys - Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2 - as well as one overnight per week.
Spears lost all visitation rights with her kids in January for about a month after a forced hospitalization at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Legal experts warn that going to court could be a huge gamble for Spears, who is still under the conservatorship of her father. If the court believes that she is unfit to take care of her own affairs, how can we expect them to decide that she's well enough to take care of her own children?
A source close to Britney has said that its likely she will get increased visitation as time goes on. Meanwhile, she remains under her father's legal control until July 31, at which time the courts will decide again whether the conservatorship should be extended.

Hermie Sadler officially joins TNA Wrestling, alongside Kurt Angle, Sting, Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe
Former NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler signed a Professional Services contract today with Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, it was announced by the Tennessee-based company. Terms of the deal were not released.
Sadler retired from the NASCAR Nextel Cup series after the 2006 season and is now an analyst for NASCAR on SPEED and Direct TV Hot Pass, and TNA has agreed to sponsor Sadler on Direct TVs Hot Pass. Since TNAs inception in 2002, Sadler has wrestled in past matches, served as a guest referee and also has sat in as a TNA announcer with broadcasters Mike Tenay and Don West.
I am a longtime pro wrestling fan and a true supporter of TNA Wrestling; I really believe in the product. It has been a lot of fun, truly an enjoyable experience working with the superstars of TNA Wrestling, said Sadler, 38, the 1993 Busch Series Rookie of the Year. In this new job with TNA, there are endless possibilities both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.
In addition to NASCAR announcing, Sadler also is a weekly guest every Tuesday on the nationally-syndicated John Boy Billy Big Show, a morning radio show which originates from Charlotte, N.C. He regularly discusses TNA storylines and superstars on the popular radio show.
In addition, Sadler appears on card No. 52 in the 100-card TNA Impact! trading card set, released in June by Houston-based Tristar Productions, Inc. When it was first mentioned about having a Hermie Sadler card in our inaugural TNA Wrestling card set, it was a no-brainer; we definitely wanted to include him, said Tristar Vice President Mandy Fuerst.
A little-known fact about the Hermie Sadler card is, it was the absolute last card added to the set, and weve had as many inquiries about that card as almost any in the entire set. Weve had a number of people asking for an authentically-signed Sadler insert card, and though there were not any included in this first set, were hoping to have Sadler autograph cards for the next set, which comes out this fall.
The NASCAR scene shifts to Chicago this week as the Chicagoland 400 is slated for July 12 and that is three months to the day from TNA Wrestlings first-ever Chicago-area show, Bound For Glory IV, the companys biggest annual pay-per-view.
TNA Wrestling presents Bound For Glory IV live from the Sears Centre Arena in suburban Hoffman Estates, Ill., on Sunday, Oct. 12, starting at 8 p.m. ET, and it will air worldwide exclusively on pay-per-view.
re absolutely thrilled to have Hermie join the TNA Family in a more formal role, said TNA Wrestling President Dixie Carter. re excited to be coming to Chicago with Bound For Glory IV, and though its still too early to talk about specifics for our October show, we plan to have Hermie involved in an integral role on the show.
In 2002, Sadler had a feud with TNA Wrestling star Ron Killings, leading to a number of appearances and matches as part of a cross promotion between TNA and NASCAR. TNA Wrestling later sponsored Sadlers racing efforts.
s enthusiasm for TNA Wrestling shines through every time he comes to the arena, said TNA Wrestling commentator Don West. His ability to relate what he sees in the (wrestling) ring to his NASCAR experiences is a great insight whenever he gets on the TNA broadcast.
Cross the line to TNA Wrestling, the most innovative experience in professional wrestling today. Join Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, The Icon Sting, Samoa Joe, A.J. Styles and the no-limits X-Division in the six-sided ring of TNA iMPACT! every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Spike TV.
TNA Entertainment, LLC is a privately held company headquartered in Nashville, Tenn.
Spike TV is available in over 96 million homes and is a division of Viacom International Inc.

BETHESDA, Md. – Steve Stricker celebrated the Fourth of July with a round of 64 and an invitation to the White House.
Stricker moved into contention at the ATT National with a flourish Friday. Starting on the back nine, he holed a bunker shot for a birdie at No. 10, then sank putts from 48 and 58 feet for birdies at Nos. 11 and 2. His round included seven birdies and a bogey, moving him from 1 over to 5 under for the tournament.
“I made a couple of bombs, which you have to do to have a round like this,” said Stricker, who finished second to K.J. Choi here last year. “I really enjoy this course. It gives you that major-type atmosphere. There’s a lot of history here.”
Stricker then headed to the showers to prepare for another big event: his first visit inside the White House. He was among a group of 14 players invited by President Bush for dinner and fireworks in a twofold celebration. Not only was America having a birthday, but the president’s birthday is Sunday.
“I had to look it up online,” Stricker said. “I wasn’t sure if we were celebrating the Fourth or his birthday. I guess it’s both.”
Stricker said he didn’t know how he ended up on the guest list – here’s a hint, Steve: You’re the highest rated golfer in the world rankings at the tournament – and he considered flying his family from Wisconsin so they could join him for the special evening. He learned of the invitation when he received a call from the White House itself.
“It was kind of a weird call,” Stricker said. “And then you give them all your vital information. It’s pretty interesting. Background check.”
The full list of players invited to the White House: Fred Funk, Davis Love III, Billy Andrade, Jonathan Byrd, Fred Couples, Rocco Mediate, Lucas Glover, Ben Crane, Jim Furyk, Johnson Wagner, Mike Weir, Brandt Snedeker, Corey Pavin and Stricker.

Tiger Woods called it his greatest championship ever. I guess I would have to respectfully disagree. Tiger's entire body of work is filled with masterpieces, and this one is just another compelling chapter written by the greatest golfer to ever play the game. I agree, though, what we just witnessed this past week may have been the most dramatic of all of Tiger's victories.

The drama was intensified by the story--or, rather, stories--that unfolded this U.S. Open Championship. They were all, in a way, improbable. First, there was hometown hero Phil Mickelson playing on his home course looking like he was playing the course for the first time and blundering badly with his strategy, not to mention swing. Improbable, but perhaps understandable given the pressure that Lefty must have felt. The guy withered again under the pressure. Like he said, the last time he quadruple bogeyed 13 was when he was 8 years old! So much for the "dream pairing" of Woods and Mickelson. The USGA should've learned from the debacle at the Ryder Cup!

Tiger Woods, of course, was the exact opposite of Phil: Tiger didn't wither under the pressure, he reveled in it. Pressure is what stokes Tiger's fire. You could visibly see it on his face when he essentially faced elimination on the last hole on Sunday needing to make a 15 footer for birdie to force a playoff and again on Monday, only with a shorter birdie putt. That Tiger was in this position at all was improbable, though, because the guy was coming off knee surgery -- his third on the same knee -- and had not played a tournament in months. Tiger Woods is the only golfer in the world who would be able to pull of something as miraculous as winning a major without having played in months following surgery. I mean, c'mon, most of the players don't even have a realistic chance of winning a major if they are healthy and playing their best.

Finally, the most improbable story this U.S. Open has to be the play of 45-year-old Rocco Mediate, a guy who's won only 5 tourneys on the PGA tour and who is ranked 150 in the world and only made it to the U.S. Open by winning a playoff during a qualifier at Ohio State. If this were a movie, Rocco would be named "Rocky." Rocco played valiantly through 72 holes, almost winning, and then through 18 playoff holes, again almost winning against the best player in the world. But the streak ended for Rocco when he hit a poor drive on the 1st hole of sudden death. Poof, in an instant, Rocco's best -- and perhaps only realistic -- chance to win a major ends. Even before it was over, we were all familiar with the ending. Only a few people have really pushed Tiger to the limit in a major -- Bob May and Chris DiMarco and a young Sergio Garcia -- while most of the previous 13 majors Tiger Woods has won he has done so by imposing his will. (Hal Sutton once outdueled Tiger Woods, but that was at the TPC.) Every major Tiger has won, he's had the lead or share of it going into Sunday. The ending never gets tiresome, though, because how can brilliance ever get boring.

Since I am on the experience / brand theme this week, lets create a good experience for someone going to a show, game or event.
As I mentioned in my post Its The Experience Stupid a good experience should start long before they go the show or game.  Lets start with the marketing of the on-sale.  I love a good promotion to kick off the on-sale.  Create the right one and you will create a good experience.  Work with your promotional partners and your sponsorship partners to create the right buzz.
Now your customer wants to buy the ticket.  Well this needs to be an experience too.  Technology is a big help with this.  Customers and fans no longer have to stand in line for hours or listen to the busy signal of the phone when buying tickets.  We now have the internet, and mobile.  You can buy your tickets at home and print them out right away.  However, can someone explain to me why it costs more to print your ticket at home then to pick it up at the box office?  Are we not using our own printer, ink and paper?  If you pickup at the box office doesnt that require using ticket stock and a paid employee?   I mentioned in a previous post that Tickets.com has a new product call Tickets@phone.  Buy your tickets using your mobile phone.  Thats a cool experience.
Its the night of the event and your customer arrives.  Can we make the parking a good experience?  I know, this is a tough one.  If the arena controls the parking then they can control the experience.   If the customer bought their ticket with the mobile phone, they could have prepaid for parking and have the parking lot attendant scan the phone.  Staffing the parking correctly will help to create a good experience.  This helps with the in and the out.
Now the customer arrives outside the front doors of the arena.  It doesnt matter if it is a rock show, family show, or sporting event, there is always media sponsors.  Make them part of the experience.  Have them set up outside the doors to greet the customers.  Ask them to help create an interactive experience.  This is a win-win for everyone.
The customer is now in the arena.  They are going to walk around the concourse either to find their seats or to buy merchandise and food.  This is another opportunity to create an experience.  Whatever the show or sporting event is, create a theme experience around this.  When I worked for the Atlanta Knights Hockey team in Atlanta we always tried to create a concourse experience.  One example was when we played the Las Vegas team.  We turned the concourse into a casino.  We handed our fans Knights Bucks as they entered the arena.  They could use this play money to play at the casino tables throughout the concourse.  If they filled out the back of the money with their personal info, they could win prizes from our sponsors.  Customer experience, data mining, and sponsor fulfillment was accomplished from this one experience.
Now the show or game starts.  That of course is the experience that the customer paid for.  If it is a show, you have to let them control the experience.  If it is a game, you can control all things around the game.  Of course this depends on your relationship with the team.
After the show or event, create an experience during the egress.  Make sure you have personnel that are smiling and thanking the customers for coming.  Give them something on the way out.  You can always find a sponsor who wants to do this.
